A weekend in Berne

In the capital of Switzerland, there are many things to be discovered. In the centre, there are the parliament building, being the seat of the Swiss government, the cathedral, which is the “Münster“ (101 m high with fabulous views), the clock tower, 11 fountains, historical buildings with the typical sandstone fronts and many nostalgic alleyways which can be explored ideally on foot. With 6 km of arcades, Berne has the longest amount of covered shopping streets in Europe.

For physically active guests

A visit to the Animal park Dählhölzli on the banks of the river Aare is well worthwhile. In summer, the Aare is the local recreation area and big fun for swimmers, who enjoy being carried along by the current for a few hundred metres. The Westside Center (built by the architect Liebeskind) on the edge of the Motorway A1 towards Neuenburg accommodates the adventure pool ‘Bernaqua’ – a real paradise for water enthusiasts.

Friends of Culture

Friends of culture should absolutely take time to visit the Paul Klee centre (architect Renzo Piano). With 400+ works it contains the world‘s largest collection of offerings by the famous Swiss painter. A great experience for both grown-ups and children.
